The high-drain trend: current delivery decides

The FPV and interceptor drone market has radically changed the requirements for battery cells. Capacity is no longer the headline parameter — what decides is the ability to deliver current instantly and without losses.

An interceptor drone needs a sharp burst of power: 200–400 A peak without voltage sag. Any sag means lost dynamics and, ultimately, a failed intercept.

Manufacturers are responding: new generations of high-drain cells — Samsung 50S, Tenpower, Molicel — sustain high currents while keeping capacity around 5000 mAh.

Advice from our team: when choosing a cell, look beyond capacity. Internal resistance and discharge curves under real load tell you more about a battery than the number on the label.
